Construction milestone at Ingle Farm

The last slabs were poured at Ingle Farm this month. Marking the final set of homes to be built under the $232.7 million Public Housing Improvement Program and other Trust building programs, these homes, built by developer Urban Concept, are the final set of homes in the ambitious target of 1,090 homes to be built by early 2026.

The total building program, alongside the reversal of proposed sell-off of 580 Trust homes, will deliver the first net increase in public housing stock in a generation.

Out of the new homes, 909 of the new public housing homes will be built in metropolitan Adelaide, with 184 being delivered in regional South Australia. All homes are now under construction or complete.

Contracts to build the homes were awarded to 37 South Australian building companies, supporting local businesses and trades.

Success at the 2025 UDIA SA Awards

We are proud to announce that we have won two awards at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (SA) awards 2025. The UDIA SA Awards for Excellence recognise innovation, leadership, and community impact.

The two projects that won were:

  • Innovation in Development: Modern Methods of Construction -  The Mile End homes were built using U-Panel. This milestone project in Mile End delivered four brand-new public housing homes in just 115 days using the cutting-edge U-Panel walling system — a faster, safer, and more durable approach that’s reshaping the future of public housing in South Australia.
  • Affordable Housing: Everleigh, Munno Para (with Fairmont Homes). Delivered 51 architecturally designed, energy-efficient homes with 7-star energy ratings, solar panels, and full turnkey inclusions. The project sets a new benchmark for affordable housing and revitalises the local community.

A garden full of heart in Mount Gambier

Left: Christine's house and garden and Right: Christine standing at the front gate of her garden.Christine and her husband have worked hard to create a beautiful garden at their SA Housing Trust property in Mount Gambier.

She says that spending time in the garden is her little escape, and it’s clearly a shared passion with the couple having won our gardening competition twice before.

We love seeing tenants take pride in their homes, inside and out. To recognise their efforts, we were pleased to present Christine with a Bunnings voucher, perhaps for a few more plants to add to their thriving garden.

New affordable homes in Bordertown

New affordable homes in Bordertown. The SA Housing Trust is helping create housing opportunities across regional South Australia, with a new set of social housing homes recently completed in Bordertown.

These modern, four-bedroom homes are designed for larger families and offer features that help reduce the cost of living. Each home includes two bathrooms (one with a bathtub), spacious living and dining areas, double garages, heating and cooling, drought-tolerant landscaping, and solar panels to lower electricity bills. Located less than two kilometres from the town centre, schools, and hospital, these homes also provide easy access to essential services.

This project was built in partnership with community housing provider Unity and the Tatiara District Council. The Trust contributed funding for one of the homes; Unity will fund and manage the rest; and the land was provided by the Council—an excellent example of what can be achieved through collaboration.

Connected by Care: A story of partnership

David and his mother in front of their home.Long-time tenant David Kendall has been a quiet force for good in his community, tending gardens, helping neighbours, and leading the Holbrooks Art Group.

When he reached out to us requesting to move next door to his mum to support her daily, our teams came together to make it happen.

David and his dog Bella are now happily settled beside his mum, and he still returns weekly to lead the art group.

This is a beautiful example of community, care, and collaboration in action.

Land release at Woodville Place

Land release at Woodville Place. The Trust is developing several high-quality housing projects across South Australia, creating new, connected, and sustainable mixed-use communities.

Woodville Place is a master-planned residential development designed to foster diverse, inclusive communities where residents take pride in their homes and care for one another. The development supports people of all backgrounds and includes a mix of public housing, affordable housing, and land allotments available for sale on the open market.

The latest land release at Woodville Place, Stage 4B, launched on Wednesday 23 July, offering eight allotments for sale on Eton Street and Eighth Avenue. All allotments were under contract within a week of the release.

Sales from urban renewal projects like Woodville Place fund public housing and boost support much-needed housing supply. They also allow upgrades to  neighbourhood infrastructure such as stormwater and traffic management, utilities, street lighting, and public spaces.

Amanda and Rashan's new home

Amanda and Roshan in their new home. After living in public housing, first home buyer Amanda and her partner Rashan moved into their new home in Woodville Gardens late last year. Their home was made possible through purchasing an affordable, fixed-price home through our Affordable Housing Initiative (AHI).

Amanda, a teacher, says the couple experienced the frustration many home buyers face. A lot of the homes advertised in their price range sold for significantly more – sometimes $50,000 over the asking price.

Having a fixed-price contract gave them confidence and control throughout the process, allowing them to plan their budget without the uncertainty of rising costs.

Amanda and Rashan are two of many South Australians benefiting from the AHI, which is delivering 1,000 new affordable homes for sale across the state. The initiative not only supports aspiring homeowners but also creates jobs and economic growth through significant government investment in land development and construction.

Community consultation held for Camden Park apartments

Community consultations held at Camden Park.On Wednesday 19 August, we hosted a community consultation to share plans and gather feedback on the upcoming Camden Park apartment development.

The Commonwealth Government is funding the apartments through its $2 billion Social Housing Accelerator Payment, which is delivering thousands of new and refurbished social homes across Australia.

This project will provide 48 high-quality, two-bedroom apartments on Anzac Highway. The six-storey development will be secure, thoughtfully designed homes that will help renew the area with fit-for-purpose housing.

Around 30 community members attended the session. They engaged in meaningful conversations with Trust staff, asked thoughtful questions, and shared valuable feedback that will help shape the development.
