Rob standing in front of a new SA Housing Trust home in the process of being built

Story of Rob Snider

Rob’s connection to SA Housing Trust began in childhood, when he grew up in a Trust home. As an adult, he built a life across South Australia, working hard and raising two sons in homes of his own. Later in life, Rob stepped into a new chapter when he became the legal guardian of five children. The Trust responded to his growing family’s needs by supporting him with a four-bedroom home in Kilburn.

This support gave Rob and the children the space and stability they needed to thrive. Years passed, and four of the five children since grew up and moved on. With just one school-aged child still at home, Rob no longer needed the larger house. He recently downsized into a brand-new two-bedroom home, still in Kilburn, freeing up the four-bedroom property for another large family in need. Rob, said, “My new home is just so lovely. I could not be more grateful to the Trust, and I am so thankful for the opportunity it has given me to raise children I care for in the same safety and security I enjoyed growing up.”

He added, “I was able to grow up with my own family, secure in our Trust home until I moved on to other things in life. Now, the Trust has enabled me to do the same thing for these young people.”

Rob’s story is a powerful example of how the Trust supports tenants through life’s changes, and how tenants like Rob give back by making space for others.

These milestones are a testament to our commitment to provide quality, affordable housing for those who need it most.
