The SA Housing Trust is helping build the future construction workforce by providing six vacant public homes for students and job seekers to refurbish as they prepare for apprenticeships.

Delivered through the Trust’s 2026 employment pathway programs, in partnership with organisations across suburban Adelaide and Whyalla, the initiative gives future tradies hands‑on, real‑world experience while preparing vacant public homes for new tenants. It also contributes to the renewal of public housing.

Last year, these training programs supported 197 high school students and job seekers on their pathway into the construction industry, with many progressing into apprenticeships.

This initiative is one of several ways the Trust is addressing housing challenges in South Australia, now and into the future.
