The SA Housing Trust has transformed a former bin area at its Sturt Street flats into a vibrant new courtyard, creating a welcoming shared space for residents.

As part of major renovations at one of the Trust’s older sites - now dedicated to housing women - the area has been redeveloped into a garden for residents to enjoy together. Once established, the courtyard will provide a lush, green retreat. Residents are also collaborating on a mural for the back wall, adding a personal touch and helping bring the space to life.

Alongside the courtyard upgrade, the Trust completed extensive improvements across the property. This included refurbishing all 20 flats, refreshing common areas, strengthening security, and improving parking and bin storage.

This project is one of several upgrades underway at older flat sites, helping to deliver more modern, comfortable homes. At the same time, the SA Housing Trust is building new flat sites as part of its broader commitment to creating better homes and stronger neighbourhoods across South Australia.
