David a SA Housing Trust tenant for 13 years with this mother in front of her home
A story of partnership
David Kendall has been a SA Housing Trust tenant for over 13 years, and in that time, he’s become a cornerstone of his community. Known for his generosity and quiet leadership, David regularly maintained shared gardens, assisted older tenants with shopping and technology, and carried out welfare checks, always looking out for those around him.
Recently, David approached our team with a heartfelt request. His mother, also a Trust tenant, had recently had her neighbour move out. David hoped to transfer into the vacant property next door to be closer to her and provide daily support.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of our Tenancy Practitioner and other teams, we were able to make that happen. David and his dog Bella have now moved in next door to his mum, who is absolutely thrilled to have her son nearby.
Though he’s relocated, David remains deeply connected to his former community, returning every Thursday to lead the Holbrooks Art Group, a creative initiative he helped establish.
David’s story is a testament to the power of community and partnership. We’re proud to have supported him in staying close to the people who matter most.
