In partnership with SA Housing Trust, UnitingSA is set to deliver 30 new social and affordable apartments in Bowden, with construction about to begin on the Uniting on Hawker development.
The milestone was marked last month with a sod‑turning event and Smoking Ceremony led by Kaurna Elder Uncle Mickey, signalling the start of construction on this housing project. In attendance on the day was our Chief Executive Julie-Anne Burgess and Chief Financial Officer Nicholas Symons.
Located on a site previously occupied by 10 outdated properties, the new two‑level complex will include:
- 24 social housing apartments
- Six affordable housing apartments
Designed for women aged 55 and over who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, the development focuses on safety, stability and community connection.
The project is being delivered in partnership with the Trust and supported through funding from both the State and Federal governments. Completion is expected in early 2027.
