An open-plan room with a bed, yellow chair, kitchen, TV, and glass sliding door.

Construction is now complete on the Tucker Street development, delivering 50 new studio apartments in the city for older women at risk of homelessness.

The six‑storey building is owned by the SA Housing Trust and will be managed by YWCA Australia, extending the support services they already provide at the neighbouring site. The development also includes five fully-accessible apartments to support residents with mobility needs.

Each apartment features a private balcony, modern kitchen, bathroom, laundry, airconditioning, energy‑efficient appliances, and a dedicated bike space. The building also includes shared spaces designed to support wellbeing and connection, including meeting rooms, a computer room, and a landscaped courtyard.

On‑site YWCA support services will play a central role in helping residents establish stability, supporting tenants to manage their tenancies and connect with health, community and in‑reach services.

The location is close to essential services, public transport, green space, and major shopping and service precincts, helping residents stay connected to the community.

The completion of this development represents a significant step forward in providing safe, secure homes for South Australians who need them most.
